Bacteriostatic Water for Injection is a sterile, non-pyrogenic preparation of water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol added as a bacteriostatic preservative. This preservative allows the vial to be entered multiple times (typically up to 28 days after the initial seal puncture) by inhibiting the growth of most potentially contaminating bacteria.
In a laboratory setting, it is the standard diluent used to reconstitute lyophilized peptides and proteins, ensuring the stability and shelf-life of the compound once transitioned into a liquid state.
